Arts & Entertainment
The arts is a broad subdivision of culture, composed of many expressive disciplines. In modern usage, it is a term broader than "art", which usually means the visual arts (comprising both fine art, decorative art, and crafts). The arts encompasses visual arts, performing arts, language arts, culinary arts, and physical arts. Many artistic disciplines involve aspects of the various arts, so the definitions of these terms overlap to some degree. Entertainment is an event, performance, product, or activity designed to give pleasure or relaxation to an audience (although, for example, in the case of a computer game the "audience" may be only one person). The audience may participate in the entertainment passively as in watching opera, or actively as in computer games. Entertainment is the result from the process which amuses, pleases, or diverts a person. The playing of sports and reading of literature are usually included in entertainment, but these are often called recreation more specifically, because they involve some active participation beyond mere leisure. The industry that provides entertainment is called the entertainment industry.
